The Crown Prince Couple Build Tokyo's First Igloo

28.03.2015  10:24

Igloos are not something that people associate with Japan, but today T.R.H. the Danish Crown Prince Couple and architect Professor Toshihiko Suzuki and his students from Kogakuin University build Tokyo’s very first full-sized igloo.

Professor Suzuki visited Greenland in 2014 for research purposes, and for the past six months the professor and the students have been working hard to recreate an igloo in a Japanese environment according to original construction principles. The igloo measures 5 meters in diameter.

Want to see the igloo for yourself? Come see the igloo and the exhibition at Hillside Terrace in Daikanyama until the 19th of April.

The igloo will subsequently be donated to Uemura Museum in Tokyo.
