DK-JP Health Network & AMED Agree on Cooperation, Feb 2019

The Japanese Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED) joins the Danish-Japanese Health Network, linking with the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW), the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA), and the Royal Danish Embassy, to develop and implement bilateral technology, clinical and welfare research programs, which are closer to the market, therapy areas and service users own participation.

The DK-JP Health Network is the strategic body of key stakeholders and health officials coordinating Danish-Japanese cooperation, guided by the bilateral Memorandum of Cooperation in Health.

The network aims to advance health and economic growth initiatives, engaging in government cooperation and implementation of innovative health and welfare programs, where Danish and Japanese capabilities, technologies and solutions are relevant and effective.

Accelerating integrated programs on health, welfare and social determinants, the network attempts to strengthen productivity, life expectancy and overall wellbeing by supporting programs for high standard of public health, a high level of health awareness and participation in health-building activities through out life.

The agenda-driven cooperation themes includes:

  • Cooperating on novel health areas driven by clinical needs and supporting public health platforms and priorities.

  • Strengthen participation by centers of excellence and clinical hub functions, to achieve seamless implementation and clinical application in treatment and care delivery settings.

  • Coalitions to lead for an environment encouraging open innovation and venture development, based on public-private calls for proposals.

  • Deliver joint scientific events, research cooperation and demonstration pilots within health data and registries, biobanks, telemedicine and integrated healthcare models for innovative technologies, diagnostics and therapies. The DK-JP Health Network continues working with our partners and external stakeholder organizations to generate evidence and inform our cooperation priorities.
