Denmark


Denmark is located in the part of northern Europe called Scandinavia, south of Norway, west of Sweden and bordering Germany to the South. Denmark has a total area of 43,098 square kilometers, spread out on the peninsula of Jutland and the Danish archipelago of 407 islands. Around 70 of these are inhabited. The country is mostly flat and has a temperate climate with mild, rainy winters and cool summers. 
 
With a population of 5.6 million people, Denmark is a small country. About a quarter of the population lives in the capital of Copenhagen and 87 % of the total population lives in urban areas. The official language is Danish, which is closely related to the other Scandinavian languages of Norway and Sweden.
