Commercial Officer - Green Transformation

Denmark is a frontrunner in renewable energy and energy efficiency. Danish companies are working with governments and businesses worldwide to accelerate the global green transition. The Japanese market holds huge potential in offshore wind, hydrogen, energy efficiency and more. As a commercial officer, you will work to create opportunities for increased green Danish exports to Japan.

 

Your primary responsibility as a Commercial Officer will be to advise Danish companies about business opportunities within green transformation in Japan. Therefore, we expect you to have a relevant network among stakeholders in the green sector in Japan that will benefit Danish companies.

 

You will need to understand and develop strong relationships with Danish green energy companies, understand their business models and products and help them partner with Japanese companies and stakeholders to increase exports. Thus, you will need to use your strong knowledge of the Japanese energy market and identify potential export opportunities for Danish companies and systematically communicate this information. The position is part of a united effort from The Trade Council to increase focus on green transformation, and you will be part of our local team at the Danish Embassy in Japan just as you will have colleagues across the world working on the green transformation.

 

The Trade Council supports Danish companies within the tasks below:

  • Public affairs and stakeholder management.
  • Partnerships and regulatory support.
  • Market entry and partner/distributor searches.
  • Events and roundtable discussions with key stakeholders in the green sector.


Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience from the energy field and master’s degree in engineering, science, economics, international relations, public affairs or business studies.
  • Strong ability to identify commercial opportunities and develop relevant export promotion activities.
  • Commercial profile with several years of international experience.
  • Experience with customer relations ensuring decisive value creation and customer satisfaction.
  • Solid network with, and understanding of, the green energy sector in Japan.
  • Ability to create close relations and trust in regard to sales and consultancy tasks.
  • Understanding of public sector dynamics.
  • Fluency in Japanese, high proficiency in English. Danish is not a requirement.

What we offer:

The Trade Council performs consultancy-based internationalization services and has a number of KPI’s, including activity targets and value creation. You will be employed as a local employee at the Danish embassy. Salary according to qualifications within a public organization. 5 weeks of paid annual leave and a flexible Danish working scheme and 40 hours working week. 

You will be hired at The Trade Council in Tokyo and be part of the embassy staff. In your daily work, you will report to Head of Trade. You will work closely with the commercial employees in the embassy as well as our political team.

Expected start:

January 2023, or soon thereafter. Employment with the Embassy requires security clearance by the Danish Security and Intelligence Service.
