Constitution Day Celebration at The Embassy
On June 5, the Danish Embassy in Japan and the DCCJ co-hosted a festive national day celebration on occasion of Constitution day in Denmark. There were food tastings, musical performances, tombola draws and speeches by Mr. Taro Kono and Mr. Kenji Yamada.
The Danish Embassy and the Danish Chamber of Commerce in Japan co-hosted a National Day Celebration to mark Danish Constitution Day on June 5. Ambassador Peter Taksøe-Jensen opened up the courtyard and residence for the 250+ guests that participated on the day.
The guests got the opportunity to get a taste of Denmark with the many various food tastings and drinks including smørrebrød, hotdogs, vodka from Nykur, cherry wine from Frederiksdal, bakery treats from both Mette Munk and Andersen Bakery, and beer provided by Mikkeller.
Both the chairman of the Japan-Denmark Parliamentary Friendship league, Mr. Taro Kono, and the State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Kenji Yamada gave a congratulatory speech during the evening. Both speeches highlighted the strong bilateral relationship between Denmark and Japan and the importance of continuing the strong partnership against the backdrop of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The residence was opened to a piano performance by 12-year old Japanese, Yuri Yasui, who enchanted everybody with her outstanding piano skills. Yuri Yasui contacted the embassy herself about a performance at the embassy, as she had fallen in love with Denmark, when she in March participated in the Århus International Piano Competition 2023. In the courtyard, there were also multiple live jazz performances that helped create the festive atmosphere of the night.
Part of the program was also a lucky draw where guests had the opportunity to win Danish presents from Lego, Kjellsen Cookies, Georg Jensen, Royal Copenhagen, Nordisk, Nykur and Frederiksdal.
The successful celebration was only made possible because
of the DCCJ, all the companies that participated and also sponsored for the
event, and because of all the guests that celebrated and enjoyed the evening with
us!
