Hans Island - the disputed island between Denmark and Canada

With a single sweeping deal, Canada and Denmark have resolved a 51-year-old territorial dispute over Hans Island in the Kennedy Channel
Canada and Denmark have made an agreement regarding the disputed island, Hans Island.
With a single sweeping deal, Canada and Denmark have resolved a 51-year-old territorial dispute over Hans Island in the Kennedy Channel.
As the Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeppe Kofoed, says so well: "It is an extremely fine signal to the whole world that you can solve territorial disagreements in a constructive way based on international law. It is exactly this type of message we need in a time when international law is under attack, in particular, of course, by Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine,” (ArcticToday, 2022).
On June 2022, our Danish Ambassador to Japan, Peter Taksøe-Jensen, met with the Canadian Ambassador to Japan, Ian G. Mckay, to celebrate the agreement on a landmark deal over disputed Hans Island between Denmark and Canada.
The Ambassadors toasted and exchanged local whiskey with each other! Mr. Mckay much enjoyed the Danish @stauningwhisky.
Thank you for the invite to the Embassy of Canada to Japan! It is lovely to meet our new border neighbours.

We hope Denmark can inspire this region regarding other disputed islands between countries.
