With 551 green patents in 2021, Denmark is cementing a solid first place on green patents. This corresponds to 93 green patents per million inhabitants, well above number two and three – Switzerland (51 patents) and Sweden (37 patents).

Earlier this week, it was announced that Shell will acquire the Danish biogas producer Nature Energy for DKK 14.3 billion (approx. EUR 1.9 billion) subject to regulatory approvals. Nature Energy is the largest biogas producer in Europe with in-house expertise in design, construction, and operation of innovative and differentiated renewable natural gas plant technology. The company produces biogas from agricultural, industrial, and household waste.

For the first time in Denmark, researchers have demonstrated an 18 kilometers long, unbreakable quantum-encrypted connection.

That’s why leading investors and companies from Denmark’s robotics industry and prominent commercial foundations have joined forces to establish a fund that will provide robotics and drone start-ups with the support they need – for generations to come.

According to a newly published report made by the largest private AI lab in the Nordics, Silo AI, 24 % of all Danish companies use AI. This puts Denmark at the top of the EU, with Portugal at 17% (2nd place) and 16 % in Finland (3rd place). The report “State of AI in the Nordics” is based on statistics from Eurostat and underscores that Denmark is a leading nation when it comes to AI.

RAND Europe, a not-for-profit research organisation, has prepared a research report for the Novo Nordisk Foundation and Novo Holdings, which examines the development and adoption of quantum computing technologies in the life sciences sector. The report states that the current trajectory promises a myriad of opportunities within life sciences. This could fundamentally change the industry.
